Summer 2022 Newsletter
Dear friends,
We hope this summer is bringing you some rest and relaxation, and hopefully, a bit of fun! Although we don’t meet in June or July for UPLIFT, we have been busy getting back to business.
Check out our summer updates, which include hiring CofC alum, Arianna Moore, as our new Development and Operations Coordinator, receiving amazing feedback from UPLIFT families who were awarded a mini grant from the Michelle Somogyi Nemeth Mini Grant Program, and planning for the 6th Annual Hike for Mike!
If you or someone you know has children impacted by a parent's cancer diagnosis, please learn more at our website, www.thelononfoundation.org
With gratitude,
Anna Lonon

Michelle Somogyi Nemeth Mini Grant Program Continues to Grow
The 11th Annual Haygood/Grady Tennis Tournament and donations from the Somogyi and Nemeth families helped raise more than $4,300 for the Michelle Somogyi Nemeth Mini Grant Program! This program provides financial support to our UPLIFT families as they deal with the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis.
Hear what two UPLIFT families had to say:
"This grant means so much to our family. We are honored and humbled. It will help towards therapy that is not covered under our current medical insurance plan and that we have to pay out of pocket." UPLIFT Mom of 2nd grade child
"My husband and I are completely overwhelmed and totally defeated. I am spending a few days a week at the hospital for test after test and every test finds more bad news. Every appointment has a copay, it adds up faster than we can keep up. Thank you for jumping in immediately and supporting our family as we walk such a hard, hard journey. Knowing we aren’t alone removes some of the defeat and brings hope." UPLIFT Mom of 3 children

TLF Team Updates
We are so excited to welcome Arianna Moore to The Lonon Foundation as our Development and Operations Coordinator!
Arianna is a recent graduate of the Arts Management Program at the College of Charleston. During her time at the College, she was an active member of the Zeta Gamma Chapter of the Chi Omega Fraternity. With her sorority, Arianna worked each year to aid in granting a child's wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

She has worked with children throughout her life, from babysitting to swim instructing, and loves to interact with kids of all ages. During her time at College of Charleston, she successfully managed several events for student leasing companies, where she was in charge of planning, execution, and various administrative duties.
Arianna is passionate and eager to promote The Lonon Foundation and our mission. She has hit the ground running with us already with so much excitement and passion. We are thrilled to have her on board!

Melted Crayon Art
What you’ll need: glue, crayons (new or old), a canvas or thick piece of paper, and a hair dryer.

Start by choosing your crayon colors. The colors you choose may represent different emotions, may represent your dreams, or they may be your favorite colors!
Arrange your crayons across your canvas by gluing each crayon to the surface. You can create color patterns or a design as you glue your crayons.
After your crayons are placed in the right spot, use the blow dryer to melt the crayons. The melted crayon will “run” across the surface from the heat of the hair dryer.
After you’ve melted your crayons, set aside for one day so your creation can dry!
