Spring 2022 Newsletter

After almost two years, UPLIFT is back in person, and we are loving it! Following CDC guidelines and listening to the wishes of our families, we made the decision to resume in-person events in December. So far, we have bowled at The Alley, gone Crabbing with Tia, and created mini masterpieces at the Isle of Palms Exchange Club. As we welcome Spring 2022 with its buzzing energy and promise of warmer days ahead, we do so with grateful and joyful hearts. The last two years have been difficult for all of us, but this Spring brings a hope and a lightness that we have needed. We can’t wait to enjoy what this new season will bring. With gratitude, Anna Lonon

Iced Out! A Cold and Successful February

TLF was awarded the Jeff Cook Cares Grant of $2,500 at the February Stingrays event. We are honored to receive this grant for our families, and loved getting on the ice, too!

Our Chi Omega friends at College of Charleston raised $2,000 for us at their February Polar Plunge at Isle of Palms. CofC’s amazing, passionate students have been supporters, donors, and volunteers for our organization since our inception. We value our relationship with CofC and all our student philanthropists! Go Cougars!

New Resources

To help our families who have recently lost a parent or caregiver to cancer, we have created a Counseling and Grief Resource handout. This handout provides a list of counseling and grief resources available in the Lowcountry, including group counseling, individual grief counseling, and other organizations.

Through our Michelle Somogyi Nemeth Mini Grant Program, TLF provides mini grants to help UPLIFT families afford counseling services. For more information, visit thelononfoundation.org/minigrant
