Local Artist Supports The Lonon Foundation with New Series

Local artist Julie Glass combines playtime outside with playtime with paint, and her work reflects the humor reverence and lessons that can be found everywhere in the natural world.

Julie has created a very special flock of birds, the Booby and Tit Bird Collection, each of which has been named after someone who has bravely battled cancer. These birds embody courage, strength, and a great deal of humor. The birds featured here are the Great Tit, Blue Tit, Long-Tailed Tit, Tufted Titmouse, Blue Footed Booby, Red Footed Booby, Brown Booby, and Masked Booby.

From her original oil paintings, Julie has created greeting cards! Check out the set of eight on her Etsy shop. All profits from the sales of these cards will benefit the Lonon Foundation!

Join us Sunday, October 17 from 1-5 p.m. at Palmetto Islands County Park for a day filled with outdoor family fun!

We're excited to feature Cast Iron as the food truck at the Hike! Cast Iron just celebrated eight years on the road and has become one of the top food trucks in Charleston, SC! Launched by founder Victor in 2012, Cast Iron is proudly serving the Eastern Carolina Pulled Pork BBQ recipe created by his mother and voted Washington, D.C.'s "Best BBQ Sandwich" 5 years in a row!

Another feature of this year's hike is our silent auction! We have an awesome collection of items you won't want to miss. Speaking of awesome, one of the items available will be this set of 4 experiences with Casual Crabbing with Tia! Tia's Airbnb Experience, "Let's Go Crabbing," is recognized as one of Airbnb’s best in the world. This experience remains one of our all-time favorite UPLIFT events. You can bid on this and other great items at the Hike!

The Hike would simply not be possible without our sponsors. We truly cannot thank them enough for their support!

Are you getting as excited for this October as we are? Make sure you have your tickets!!

Updates for UPLIFT Families and Volunteers

COVID-19 Safety Precautions

As a safety measure against the spread of COVID-19, The Lonon Foundation has decided to hold its UPLIFT events virtually until further notice, starting with the September event. With the rising cases, we feel it is a necessary step to protect our UPLIFT families. We are continuing to monitor the changing COVID-19 challenges and developing policy and practices to keep everyone safe and healthy. We are asking that families, volunteers, and staff stay tuned for the latest direction provided by the board.

Families, be on the look-out for information regarding recent changes!

Virtual events do not mean that the fun will stop! We are working on planning activities that will be available to you outside or at home!

In the meantime, check out this awesome resource about yoga our UPLIFT coordinator has created for you. It is a quick and easy way to learn more about the benefits of yoga and how you can practice it with your child.
